An approval workflow is the defined sequence of reviewers a brief or asset passes through, with each step's owner and criteria made explicit.
Sequential approval is slower but produces coherent feedback. Parallel approval is faster but produces contradictions that someone has to arbitrate — usually the project manager, usually at 6pm.
The workflow should name a single accountable approver per stage. Committees review; individuals approve.
